Yogi Adityanath Launches 80 Development Projects Worth ₹305 Crore in Deoria

Deoria, August 29: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 80 development projects worth nearly ₹305 crore in Deoria district, covering the Salempur and Bhatpar Rani assembly constituencies.

The projects were launched at Majhauli Raj, where Adityanath also addressed a public meeting and distributed certificates and financial assistance to beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes. He later inspected an exhibition showcasing development projects and welfare initiatives.


The chief minister said his government was working to improve infrastructure and basic services while preserving Deoria's religious and cultural heritage.

"Development and public welfare are being taken forward together," Adityanath said, stressing that the state government was focused on extending the benefits of welfare schemes to eligible beneficiaries.

Road and infrastructure projects

Highlighting infrastructure development in Deoria, the chief minister said bypasses and flyovers were being constructed and roads were being upgraded to improve connectivity.

Single-lane roads are being widened to double-lane roads, while several double-lane and four-lane roads are being upgraded further, he said.

Adityanath said the infrastructure projects would improve transportation and contribute to economic activity in the region.

He also described the medical college in Deoria as a major achievement for the district. The institution has been named after spiritual figure Maharshi Devraha Baba.


Focus on education and healthcare

The chief minister said schools were being upgraded under various state initiatives, including the construction of composite schools, expansion of Kasturba Gandhi residential schools and improvements under Operation Kayakalp.

He also highlighted the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana, which provides free coaching to eligible students preparing for competitive examinations.

Referring to encephalitis, a long-standing public health concern in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath said government measures involving healthcare, prevention, sanitation and treatment had helped bring the disease under control.


Jobs and self-employment

Adityanath said the government was creating employment opportunities through recruitment in various departments, including the police, while also promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship.

He cited schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana, MSME programs and the One District One Product initiative as measures aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs.

The government is also providing tablets and smartphones to eligible young people as part of its digital initiatives, he said.

Welfare measures

The chief minister said free food grains were being provided to eligible families and that technology was being used to improve transparency in the public distribution system.

He also referred to a three-day free travel facility for women on Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses from August 27 to 29. Under the scheme, women were allowed to travel free of charge with one accompanying passenger.

He said the government was also working on extending free bus travel to women above 60 years of age.

Development of religious sites

Adityanath said the state government would continue to support the development and beautification of religious and cultural sites in Deoria.

He said improving such sites could boost tourism and create employment opportunities for local residents.

The projects launched on Saturday include works related to roads, bridges, flyovers, schools, healthcare facilities and other infrastructure. The government said the projects would strengthen connectivity and improve public services in the Salempur and Bhatpar Rani areas.

Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and Rural Development Minister of State Vijaylakshmi Gautam also addressed the gathering and highlighted development and infrastructure works carried out in the district.

Several legislators and former public representatives attended the event, including Bhatpar Rani MLA Sabhakunwar Kushwaha, Barhaj MLA Deepak Mishra, Rampur Karkhana MLA Surendra Chaurasia and former Salempur MP Ravindra Kushwaha.

The chief minister later held a meeting with BJP office-bearers. Senior party leaders and district-level officials were also present.
