  Nepal Tragedy: Flash Floods and Landslides Kill 160, Hundreds Missing Along Trishuli River Basin TOK News Network | New Delhi / Kathmandu, Aug 27: Nepal is battling one of its worst natural disasters in recent years after massive flash floods and landslides struck areas along the Nepal-China border, sweeping away homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure. The disaster has killed at least 162 people , while hundreds remain missing, according to the latest reports. The disaster struck on August 26 in the Rasuwa and Dhading areas , with floodwaters and debris surging through the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli river system. A huge mass of mud and rock entered the river, generating a powerful flood that devastated settlements and infrastructure downstream. The exact chain of events behind the disaster is still being examined, with a glacier collapse and possible seismic activity among the factors under investigation.   Narayani River Water Level May Rise; DM, SP Inspect Shivpur and Other Vulnerable Villages TOK News Network | Kushinagar Kushinagar: The Kushinagar district administration has stepped up preparedness following reports of a possible rise in the water level of the Narayani River after heavy rainfall in Nepal's Rasuwa district and information about a glacier-related lake outburst. DM and SP kushinagar District Magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar and the Superintendent of Police, along with senior administrative and police officials, conducted an on-ground inspection of Shivpur and other vulnerable villages located across the Narayani River to assess the preparedness for a possible increase in the river's water level. According to information received by the administration, water discharge from the Valmiki Barrage could potentially reach around 2.50 lakh to 3 lakh cusecs . All Major Rivers in Deoria Flowing Below Danger Mark; 11 mm Average Rainfall Recorded TOK NEWS NETWORK Deoria | August 6, 2026: According to the Daily River Water Level and Rainfall Report issued by the Flood Control Room, Deoria, all major rivers in the district are currently flowing below their respective danger marks. Although a slight rise in water levels has been recorded over the past 24 hours, officials said the situation remains under control and is being closely monitored. The report stated that the Ghaghara River (Nai Basti/Diha Embankment) recorded a water level of 65.90 metres , against the danger mark of 66.50 metres . The Rapti River (Bhendi) was measured at 66.45 metres , while the Gorra River (Pidra Ghat) stood at 67.20 metres . The Chhoti Gandak River recorded a NIL water level.
