Hindu Organisations Hold Meeting Along UP-Bihar Border, Raise Objections Over Proposed Prayer Meeting

Kushinagar, August 13: Office-bearers and workers of several Hindu organisations held a meeting in the Dhanaha area of Madhubani block along the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border, with participants from Madhubani, Bheetaha and adjoining blocks of Bihar.

The meeting focused on a proposed prayer meeting and allegations surrounding activities at a reportedly operated de-addiction centre in the Gobarahiya area.

Addressing the gathering, Rajan Jaiswal, state minister of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh, expressed objections to the alleged prayer meetings. He claimed that attempts were being made to facilitate religious conversion under the guise of a de-addiction centre through prayer meetings, medical treatment and faith-healing practices.

Jaiswal said the organisation would oppose any activity that violated the law and urged youths in villages along the UP-Bihar border to form local organisational units. He also called for greater public participation in social awareness and de-addiction initiatives.

Jaiswal further claimed that senior office-bearers of the organisation and local youths met the Kushinagar district magistrate on Wednesday and raised the issue. According to him, the district magistrate assured the delegation that no person would be allowed to travel through Kushinagar for a prayer meeting in violation of applicable rules.

The administrative claim, however, could not be independently verified, and no official statement on the matter was immediately available.

The participants also discussed a strategy to register their opposition to the prayer meeting reportedly scheduled for Thursday.

Among those present at the meeting were student leader Dhawan Jaiswal, organiser and coordinator Munna Shah, Paritosh Kumar Rai, Shahid, Shri Falahaari Baba, National Bajrang Dal's UP-Bihar provincial minister Ranjit Singh, Vijay Soni, Sant Ram Gupta, Manish Singh, Dhananjay Kumar, Golu Patel, Vipin Patel, Padrauna city in-charge Rajendra Chaurasia, Sachin Jaiswal, Singhasan Chauhan and Ashish Verma.

Organisers claimed that hundreds of youths from areas along the UP-Bihar border participated in the meeting.

The allegations regarding the prayer meeting and the de-addiction centre have not been independently verified. The situation is likely to become clearer after the concerned parties present their response to the allegations.
