Trishuli Flood Threat: UP, Bihar on Alert as Narayani-Gandak Water Levels May Rise Nepal Flash Floods Raise Downstream Concerns; Valmikinagar Barrage and Vulnerable Border Areas Under Close Watch TOK News Network | New Delhi/Kushinagar, Aug 26 Authorities in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have stepped up vigilance following devastating flash floods in Nepal and concerns over a possible rise in water levels in the Trishuli-Narayani-Gandak river system , officials said. The Trishuli River joins the Kali Gandaki at Devghat in Nepal to form the Narayani River , which enters India near Valmikinagar and is known as the Gandak downstream. Any significant increase in upstream flow could have implications for vulnerable areas along the river basin in India.   Hindu Organisations Hold Meeting Along UP-Bihar Border, Raise Objections Over Proposed Prayer Meeting TOK NEWS NETWORK Kushinagar, August 13: Office-bearers and workers of several Hindu organisations held a meeting in the Dhanaha area of Madhubani block along the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border, with participants from Madhubani, Bheetaha and adjoining blocks of Bihar. The meeting focused on a proposed prayer meeting and allegations surrounding activities at a reportedly operated de-addiction centre in the Gobarahiya area. Addressing the gathering, Rajan Jaiswal, state minister of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh, expressed objections to the alleged prayer meetings. He claimed that attempts were being made to facilitate religious conversion under the guise of a de-addiction centre through prayer meetings, medical treatment and faith-healing practices.
